How to Export from Coinbase

Coinbase's Tax Center generates a complete transaction history CSV that includes every buy, sell, convert, receive, send, and reward event with the USD cost basis at the time of each transaction. The export works for both standard Coinbase and Coinbase Advanced Trade (formerly Coinbase Pro).

1

Open the Tax Reports section

Log into Coinbase on desktop (the mobile app has limited export options). Click your profile icon in the top right, then Taxes, then Documents.

2

Generate the Transaction History CSV

Under Transaction history, select CSV format, choose the date range (use "All time" for a complete analysis), then Generate. Coinbase produces the file in a few seconds and emails you when it's ready for download.

3

Advanced Trade users: also export fills

If you used Coinbase Advanced Trade (the old Coinbase Pro), the fills CSV from Reports in the Advanced Trade interface has more granular data on individual order executions. Foliolytic accepts both files and merges them into a single portfolio view.

4

Upload to Foliolytic

Drag the CSV onto the upload area at foliolytic.com. Format is auto-detected — no column mapping, no cleanup. Analytics appear in seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I export my transaction history from Coinbase?

Log into Coinbase on desktop. Click your profile icon (top right) → TaxesDocuments. Under Transaction history, select CSV, set date range to "All time" for a complete analysis, and click Generate. The file includes every buy, sell, send, receive, convert, and reward event with USD cost basis. For Coinbase Advanced Trade, a separate fills CSV is available under Reports in the Advanced Trade interface.

Does Foliolytic work with Coinbase Advanced Trade (Pro)?

Yes. Coinbase Advanced Trade's fills CSV is supported directly. You can upload both the standard Coinbase transaction history CSV and the Advanced Trade fills CSV together, and Foliolytic merges them into a single portfolio view. Pro-level trading fees are correctly accounted for in each trade's effective cost.

Are Coinbase Earn staking rewards included?

Yes. Coinbase Earn rewards appear in the transaction history CSV as reward events. Foliolytic parses them as income inflows with zero cost basis, incorporates them into XIRR, and counts them toward your total return. ETH2 staking, Algorand rewards, Cosmos staking, and similar are all handled automatically.

Will it work if I moved coins between Coinbase and another exchange?

Yes. Upload CSVs from every exchange you've used. Foliolytic automatically detects intra-exchange transfers (sends and receives to your own wallets) and avoids double-counting them. The coin's cost basis travels with it when transferred, preserving accurate XIRR and return calculations across platforms.

Does Foliolytic store my Coinbase data?

No, not by default. Your CSV is parsed entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to Foliolytic's servers unless you explicitly click Save Portfolio — which generates a private URL only you can access. No signup, email, or API keys are ever required.
